Hiking and herding

Hiking and herding

The high plains of the Lluçanès region are ideal for hiking. The fields full of crops, the forests, the country houses and the small village invite us to observe the rural world and this very interesting natural scenery. The countryside has a gentle profile, watered by the rivers and streams, with small peaks, true vantage points of the Eastern Pyrenees, Montserrat and Montseny. We offer guided routes based on the theme of history or simply of scenic interest: routes through the High Lluçanès, the Carlin route, route of the bandoliers, the route of the war of succession, the path of the Lords of Lluçà and hikes between villages.

Over the centuries, stock breeding has always been an important source of resources for farmers: meat, milk and wool, among other things, were prime elements for family sustenance. Wool was used to make mattresses, shoulder bags, shirts for the shepherds and other warm clothes; at that time nobody could imagine that wool would become one of the main triggers of industrialisation in Catalonia.
